CUBO Golf course


The peaceful surroundings of Smlednik, just a 15-minute drive from Ljubljana, boast 18 holes connecting 5,872 linear metres. Each hole has its own story that will surely captivate you. The golf course hosts professional and amateur golfers who want to exercise in nature, while the infrastructure nearby offers a lot of fun for other visitors as well. The clubhouse hosts the popular CUBO Golf Restaurant, where we prepare top-class lunches and dinners every day. The restaurant is a popular spot, used by hikers and cyclists, who like to enjoy the beauty of nature as they pass by – to stop and enjoy their refreshments.

The golf course is open from 09:00 every day.


Golf course history

The construction of the golf course started at the beginning of 2007, according to architect Peter Škofic’s instructions. In the first year, the team led by Marko Štirn, the author of the entire project, performed all the rough terrain work, drainage of the greens and the teeing grounds, the irrigation system and, as early as the autumn had put grass on the first nine holes.

At the beginning of 2008, they finished detailed work on the other nine holes and put grass on them in April. In the first half of 2008, the construction of the clubhouse, the shop and the covered driving range started.

The golf course was opened in 2009. Natural materials are predominantly used in the facilities and fit perfectly with the idyllic environment of the golf course.

The golf course hosted the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship between 25 and 28 July 2012. 144 competitors applied from 25 European countries. The competitors came from the top of amateur European golf. They were women who were on their way to becoming professional golfers.

The golf course hosted the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship between 8 and 12 July 2014. 20 national teams competed for the title of European champions. Slovenian representatives at the competition under the auspices of the European Golf Association were Katja Pogačar, Nastja Banovec, Ema Grilc, Ana Belac, Lara Ječnik and Taša Torbica.

The golf course was running for the selection of the top 100 golf courses in Europe, since it is listed among the most orderly golf courses in this part of Europe.

The golf course hosted the European Amateur Championship in 2016.

In January 2018, the golf course in Smlednik changed its owner, who wants to elevate the golf course to a higher level with investments and reorganisation and provide excellent conditions for male and female golfers.

In October 2020, the golf course hosted the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship.
